Ronald D. Plattner, 71, of Eureka, IL passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka.
He was born on June 10, 1947 in Peoria, IL a son of Marion "Pete" and Ella Bucher Plattner. He married Janis Miller on December 22, 1969 in Marseilles, IL. She survives.
Surviving also include two daughters, Beth(Mark) Steiner of Suffolk, VA; Erica(Matt) DeFord of East Peoria; one son, Brian(Jeana) Plattner of Knoxville; two sisters, Kay(Gary) Monagle of Washington; Jo Ann(Tom) Rieker of Peoria; one brother, Rick(Mary) Plattner of Fairbury; 11 grandchildren.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents.
Ronald had a distinguished career as a research chemist at the USDA Lab in Peoria for over 35 years retiring in 2003.
He was a United States Army veteran serving his country during the Vietnam War.
Ronald enjoyed doing woodworking and was a coin collector for many years.
Ronald was baptized on February 14, 2018 and became a child of God.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Rick Plattner will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka and also from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home before funeral services. Burial will be in the Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka.
