Ruth Marie Dick 103, of Eureka, IL passed away on January 24, 2019 at The Loft in Eureka. She was born on January 4, 1916 in Metamora, IL to the late Samuel and Emma (Drange) Smith. She married Henry Dick on August 30, 1941 in Eureka, IL. He preceded her in death in December 2000.
She is survived by daughters Carolyn (David) Emmert of Bloomington, IN; Nancy Harms of Toulouse, France; Deborah (David) Friesen of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren Matt Emmert, Anne Krouse, Gwen Mills, Derek Mills, David Michael Friesen, Matthew Friesen, Emilie Spillman; and 10 great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by son Stephen Dick; brother Raymond Smith; and sisters Edna Hinkle, Esther Schlabach, Ferne Umble, and Beulah Smith.
She was a lifelong member of the Metamora Mennonite Church. After graduating from the Methodist Hospital Nursing School, Ruth worked as a public health nurse in Peoria. She also spent 13 years as a school nurse for Unit 140.
A memorial service will be held on Friday February 1, 2019 at Metamora Mennonite Church starting at 11:30. Pastor Jon Byler will officiate. Cremation rites have been accorded to Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home.
