Cecil Nohl

July 18, 1917 — March 2, 2018

Cecil W. Nohl, 100, of Goodfield, IL passed away at 9:52p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
He was born on July 18, 1917 in rural Goodfield a son of Joshua and Susie Reel Nohl. He married Maxine Wilham on August 4, 1949 in Aledo, IL. She passed away on September 29, 2001.
Survivors include four sons, Terry(Laura) Nohl of Goodfield; Ray Nohl of Roanoke; Dale Nohl of Goodfield; Wes(Marcy) Nohl of rural Deer Creek; one sister, Alice Nohl of Goodfield; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, four sisters and one great grandson.
Cecil farmed in the Goodfield area for 10 years. He also worked for Illinois Department of Transportation, Mathis Lumber Company in Goodfield and he was the Woodford County Clerk serving 5 consecutive terms from 1966-1988.
He proudly served his country in the Army serving during WWII obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant.
Cecil was a member of the American Legion Post #466 in Eureka for 51 years, Congerville Gun Club for 70 years and was a Goodfield Village Trustee.
Cecil really enjoyed racoon trapping and gardening. He loved his beagle dog named Buddy.
The family would like to thank his caregiver Bunny Scott for the love and care she provided him over the last 5 years and the staff at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
Cecil was a member of the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. on Wednesday. March 7, 2018. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall and also from 9-9:45a.m. on Wednesday prior to the funeral services at the church. Burial will be in the Goodfield/Congerville Apostolic Christian Cemetery where military rites will be accorded at the grave. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is handling arrangements.
