Donald Koski, 80, of Eureka, passed away at 11:15 a.m., Sunday, December 07, 2014 at Morton Terrace.

He was born August 31, 1934 in Chicago to Henry and Tessine (Schuth) Koski. He married Phyllis Kranz on September 3, 1955 in Chicago. She survives.

Also surviving is his daughter, Patricia (Jeff) Scheid of Eureka; son, Steven (Lisa) Koski of Washington, IL; 9 grandchildren Christopher, Johnathan, Nick, Meagan, Ryan, Abby, Maddy, Jilian, JC; 2 great-grandchildren Anna and Colton; half brother Craig (Laura) Nelson, and half sister Karen (Joe) Marmo, both of Upland, CA.

He was preceded in death by 1 son, Jeffrey, 1 brother, Wilbert and his parents.

Donald was very involved in the community. He was a member of the Eureka Rotary for more than 35 years and former board member and past treasurer and president. He was a Eureka Hospital advisory board member and assisted in fund raising for the new hospital, 1 year for operating room upgrades and 3 years for new chapel, 20 plus year member and past president and board of Heartline/Heart house, Maple Lawn Advisory board and fund raisers, R.S.V.P. past president and board member, past Eureka Lions Club president, Central Illinois Agency On Aging for 6 counties, 13 years Advisory board member, Service Committee chairman, Travelers Protective Association Post E 12 years local board, past post president, 2 years State Board, past president elect and worked many fund raisers to benefit the hearing impaired and child safety, 3rd degree Knight of Columbus Metamora council #3060, past Grand Knight, worked many fund raisers over the last 20 years; 4th degree Knights of Columbus Spaulding Council #0206 Peoria for more than 20 years, honor guild for the Bishop of Peoria. He was an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police since 1983.

He owned and operated D.F.K. Printing for more than 35 years and All Seasons Travel for more than 20 years, both in Eureka. He owned and operated, with his wife Phyllis, Phildon Kennel in Eureka for 35 years. He was a member of Welsh Terrier Club of Northern Illinois for 25 years, president for 7 years, treasurer for 7 years and board member for 1 year. Also a member of Welsh Terrier Club of America for more than 30 years, treasurer 3 years and more than 5 years board member, Illinois Valley Kennel Club (Peoria) member for 15 years, past board member, show chairman, and booth chairman.

Don was proud that he owned and operated 3 businesses with his wife Phyllis for more than 35 years and they were married for 59 years.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Eureka with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Father Eugene Radosevich will officiate. Visitation will also be from 4-7 p.m., Friday at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka with rosary beginning at 4 p.m. Cremation will be accorded.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Catholic Church in Eureka.
