El Paso- Doris A. Heller, 88, of El Paso passed away at 12:13 a.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Doris was born August 31, 1929 in El Paso, a daughter of Louis J. and Elizabeth Hodgson Wadsworth.
She married Eugene (Gene) D. Heller on October 1, 1950 in El Paso. He survives. Other survivors include her children, Cheryl (Jim) Higgins, El Paso, Dan (Karen) Heller, Bloomington, Marty (Shelly) Heller, Pontiac, Amy (Brian) Copple, El Paso, and exchange student Alfredo "Chicho" (Tricia) Fernandez, Bolivia; seven grandchildren, Brandi Higgins, Neil (Jennifer) Heller, Adam (Jaclyn) Heller, Moli (Alex Koulos) Copple, Jake Heller, Matt Copple, and Meghan Heller; four great grandchildren, Halle, Henry, Harrison, and Hayden Heller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, El Paso where her funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018. Pastor Jonathan Boehne will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at Ruestman Harris Funeral Home, El Paso and for one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or The El Paso Rescue Squad.
Doris and her husband, Gene, founded Heller Ford in El Paso in 1957. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years at her church. She belonged to various card clubs and was an avid quilter and seamstress. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was the center of her life and brought her great joy.
