Edith L. Wenger, 99, of Eureka, died Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke.
Edith was born on September 16, 1924, in Cruger, IL, to Lester L. and Anna Caroline Schieber Armstrong. She married George R. Wenger on November 7, 1942, in St. Louis, MO. He died October 27, 1982.
Surviving family includes two sons, Terry Wenger, Tim R. Wenger, both of Eureka; two grandchildren, Gloria (late Jay) Fitzgerald, Jarrod (Jennifer) Wenger; five great-grandchildren, Owen, Anna, Noah, Mitchell, Caitlin; sister-in-law, Marilyn Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and five brothers, Lloyd, Raymond, Cletus, Elmer, Russell.
Edith was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Washington, IL, for over 75 years and was a member of the Dorcas Society there. She worked at the Apostolic Home in Eureka as a cook and aide for over 25 years. She was a WORLD traveler, visiting all 50 states plus Canada and many countries overseas. She loved her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews dearly. With her wit and outgoing personality, she was truly one of a kind.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be at Olio Township Cemetery.
