Eureka- Eli A. Fisher, 89, of Eureka passed away at 8:39 pm on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Advocate Eureka Hospital.
He was born on January 7, 1926 in West Bend, IA a son of Emil C. and Esther Anliker Fisher. He married Helen Schumacher on July 3, 1949 in Eureka. She survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Janet (Floyd) Frieden of Elgin, IA; one sister, Edith Stoller of Paulding, OH; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; Bruce (Tracy) Frieden with Mara and Dane; Bob (Julie) Frieden with Kyella, Trey, Broden, and Garrett; Brian (Susie) Frieden with Trent and Adysen; Beth (Mike) Starkweather with Anden, Brielle, and Carver; Ben (Traci) Frieden with Jacob and Mylie; and one special nephew, Hans Frieden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Blanche Steffen, and one son Bruce Fisher.
An Army veteran, Eli served his country during WWII.
Eli worked at various jobs in the community spending the last 24 years working for Snyder True Value in Eureka. After his retirement he enjoyed doing painting for others. He also volunteered his time at Eureka Hospital and the Eureka Apostolic Christian Home.
He was a member of the Eureka Apostolic Christian Church where funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4-7 pm at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home and from 9-9:45 am before services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be in the Roanoke Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
