Farrel Lee Salyer, 85, of Goodfield, passed away at 1:32 p.m., Monday, August 17, 2015 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.
He was born December 4, 1929 in Chickasha, OK to Stephen and Lacy Salyer. He married Connie Honeg on August 17, 1973 in Goodfield. She survives.
Also surviving are 2 sisters, 3 daughters, 5 sons and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 son, 2 daughters, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Farrel worked part-time for the Woodford County Sheriff's Department for several years, he later became a self-employed electrician before retiring as plant foreman from Page II Inc. in Bartonville.
Farrel was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Eureka American Legion. He was also a member of the Eureka Gun Club, Pekin Moose Lodge and Goodfield Baptist Church. Farrel loved gardening and helping people in any way he could. He also loved sharing stories of his life experiences (there were many) and he was a firm believer of what "the Good Book" said. He will be loved and missed by many.
Per Farrel's request, there will be no services or visitation. Cremation will be accorded. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
