Congerville- Gerald Gullett, 81, of Congerville, IL passed away at 11:27 am on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born on September 17, 1934 in Raum, IL a son of Ralph and Barbara Belford Gullett. He married Barbara Wernsman on August 6, 1955 in Germantown Hills, IL.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years Barbara Gullett of Congerville, IL; three sons, David and Mark Gullett both of Congerville; Greg (Janet) Gullett of Glasford, IL; two granddaughters, Kaleigh Johansen of Normal, IL; Kourtney Johansen (fiancé Bryan Cheek) of East Peoria, IL; two great-grandchildren, Landon and Karsen of East Peoria, IL; two sisters, Genola Jones of Burton, MI; Gwendolyn Broombaugh of Pekin, IL; one brother, Bob (Betty) Gullett of East Peoria, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen Johansen, two sisters, Geraldine and Gladys, and one brother, Glenn.
An Army veteran, Gerald served his country from 1957-1959. He worked for Caterpillar retiring in 1986 after 31 years. He then worked at Jewel in Normal retiring in 2008.
He was a member of the VFW in Eureka, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and a past member of the Wilmor Sports Club.
Gerald loved spending time and hunting with his sons, brother, and nephews. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed watching the Bears and Cardinals. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life and he will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at his church at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 22, 2015. Pastor Joe Burns will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-7 pm at the Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka and one hour prior to services at his church. Burial will be in Olio Township Cemetery.
