Gladys LaConte, 99, of Metamora, Il passed away at 5:34 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Snyder Village in Metamora.
She was born on April 9, 1921 in Sorento, IL a daughter of Winferd and Julia Prickett Stechman. She married Wilmer H. LaConte on November 17,1939 in Roanoke, IL. He passed away on November 4, 1988.
Survivors include three sons, Norman LaConte of Peoria; Jerry LaConte of Washington; Terry (Joan) LaConte of East Peoria; two sisters, Edna (Don) Liming of Lexington; Vivian Bray of Carlock; five grandchildren, Lisa (Don Filkins) LaConte; Tim (Vicki) LaConte; Nancy (Eric) Stipp; Dan (Rosemary) LaConte; Sara (Pat) Gales; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Ruth Smith, Doris Duke; one brother, Earl Stechman; daughter-in-law, Mary LaConte.
Gladys was a member of the Eureka Christian Church, East Peoria Women's Club, Ladies golf league at Hillcrest golf course in Washington. Gladys in her spare time loved to bowl, garden and sew.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Private family funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Jennie Churchman will officiate. Graveside services will follow the funeral services at Roanoke Township Cemetery. Social distancing guidelines will be observed for the visitation and funeral services and masks are recommended.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eureka Christian Church or Snyder Village in Metamora. Online condolences may be sent to the family at
