James Shreffler, Sr.

James "Jimmy" Richard Shreffler, Sr., 73, of Eureka, passed away at 4:36 p.m., Friday, January 29, 2021 at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
He was born November 29, 1947 in Peoria, IL to James T. and Evelyn (Raines) Shreffler. He married Kathy Jones on April 25, 1970 in Peoria, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his two sons, James "Jay" (Shannon) Shreffler, Jr. of Eureka and Shawn Shreffler of East Peoria; one sister, Lenora "Lennie" (Bill) Hand of Canton, IL; five grandchildren, Brandon Shreffler, Colton (Savannah) Shreffler, Haleigh Shreffler, Alec Harmon, Matthew Shreffler; and one great-granddaughter, Melinda Seibert.
James was an Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He worked as a painter for Caterpillar and retired after 30 years of service. After retirement he worked 10 years stocking for Walmart in Washington, IL.
James was an avid golfer. He golfed many years in the Knights of Columbus Sand Trapper's League. He also loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will truly be missed.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Argo-Ruestman-Harris funeral home in Eureka. There will be no formal service. Cremation will be accorded and a private committal service will be held at a later date in Olio Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, National MS Society in Peoria or any veteran organization.
