Washington-Kimberly A. Rakestraw, 52, of Washington passed away at 6:58 am on Friday, May 12, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.
She was born on November 24, 1964 in Jacksonville, FL a daughter of James Leonard Sheppard, Sr. and Amy Craig Pancoast. She married Billy Rakestraw on October 17, 1987 in Jacksonville, FL. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Hailey (Brian) Tigue of Washington, IL; one son, Justin Rakestraw of Carlock, IL; two granddaughters, Brooklynn and Channing Tigue; two sisters, Kristi Anne Higdon of Jacksonville, FL; Kelli (David) Hancock of Inverness, FL; and one brother, James L. (Michelle) Sheppard, Jr. of Pensacola, FL.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother.
Kim worked as a barista at Mika's in Eureka and later for Le Bakery in Washington. She was an avid gardener, loved going to the beach, garage sales, and the St. Louis Cardinals. She was an adored Nana by her two loving granddaughters who she dedicated her life to. Kim was a woman of faith and loved her God. She cherished her friends and was blessed by serving other people. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Crosspoint Church. Pastor Dave Steinbeck and David Little will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4-7 pm at the Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka and from 10-11 am on Wednesday before services at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded following her services.
