Eureka- Laverna Hester Zobrist, 88, of Eureka, IL passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka where she had been a resident.
She was born on January 25, 1927 in rural Deer Creek, IL the daughter of John and Edith Mahltig Zobrist.
Surviving are seven nephews and four nieces, Ron (Lois) Underwood; Gerry (Sharon) Underwood both of Eureka; Marilyn (Melvin) Blunier of Congerville; Larry (Peggy) Zobrist of Washington; Harlan (Sue)Zobrist; Eldon (Jane) Zobrist; Dean (Joyce) Zobrist; Janet (Kent) Hodel; Joy (Steve) Kennell all of Metamora; Julia Zobrist of Washington; Keith (Ann) Zobrist of Scottsdale, AZ; and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Ethel Underwood, brother, Harold C. Zobrist, brother-in-law, Earl Underwood, and sister-in-law, Maurine Zobrist.
She attended Lee School and lived with her parents until their deaths. She then resided with her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ethel and Earl Underwood in Eureka for eight years. In 1972, she moved to the Apostolic Christian Timber Ridge and Oakwood Estates in Morton. During those years she enjoyed her friends and staff, working at PARC, and attending many social activities. Since 2005 she lived her final years of life here on earth at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka. Her laughter, love of music, and sweetness touched many lives.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. on Saturday before the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Morton Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Apostolic Christian Timber Ridge in Morton or Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.argoruestmanharris.com.
