Robert Garey

Robert H. “Bob” Garey, 86, of Washington formerly of Eureka, IL passed
away at 12:15 a.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 in Metamora.
He was born on February 8, 1935 in El Paso, IL a son of Emery and
Mildred Shaffer Garey. He married Patricia Marie Xanders on April 10,
1954 in Fairfield, IL. She passed away on June 14, 1994.
Survivors include three daughters, Vickie (Darren) Hunter of Washington;
Peggy McKenzie of Oklahoma City, OK; Patricia Ann (Joe) Bane of White
Heath, IL; two brothers, Richard (Mary) Garey of Eureka; Ted (Marilyn)
Garey of Hudson; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Steve McKenzie.
Bob worked at Essig Motors in Washington for 25 years. Later he worked
at Uftring’s in Washington for 16 years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Cremation will be
accorded. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is handling
arrangements for the family.
