Shereen Walker

Washington- Shereen Lynn "Sherry" Walker, 67, of Washington, IL passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Monday, August 22, 2016 at her residence.
She was born on May 13, 1949 in Washington, IL and grew up in Eureka, IL a daughter of Richard B and Mary Edna Mounce Haecker.
Surviving is one brother, Randy Haecker (Lori Smith) of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Mindy (Sal) Perillo of Washington, IL.; nephew, Todd (Francesca) Stiles; nephew, Brian Stiles; niece, Tracy (Craig) Hirshman; nephew, Michael Perillo (Lyndee Hayden); niece, Gina (Nathan) Reeder; great nephews, Corbin, Carson and Matthew.
In 1968 she moved to Chicago and worked at IBM where she met the love of her life Darwood Walker. They were married on May 31, 1986 in Eureka, IL. He passed away on June 1, 1994.
Sherry graduated from Eureka High School in 1967 and attended Eureka College.
After retiring from IBM in Chicago Sherry and Dar moved to Washington, IL. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends and their beloved dogs. Sherry had many hobbies including cross stitching, shopping, playing cards and reading.
Sherry was a hard worker who, after Dar's passing took a position in Caterpillar's mailroom. She eventually was promoted to Executive Assistant to the Vice President at Caterpillar.
Respecting Sherry's wishes, there will not be a funeral but instead a Celebration of Life held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2-5 p.m. at Five Points in Washington, IL 360 N. Wilmor Rd. Washington, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to TAPS in Pekin, IL or OSF Hospice in Peoria, IL where they took great care of her husband in that time of need. Online tributes and condolences may be sent to the family at
