Steven Burger

Steven William Burger, 56, of Congerville, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal, IL.

He was born April 7, 1964 in Lemont, IL to William and Rhoda (Hartman) Burger. He married Dawn Cameron on January 21, 1995. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Haley (Fiancé Anderson Smith) Burger of Rantoul, IL, Seth (Fiancé Mady Reese) Burger of Eureka, Malia Burger of Congerville; one sister, Laura Burger of Ann Arbor, MI; his mother, Rhoda Burger of Ann Arbor, MI and his beloved dog, Kai.

He was preceded in death by his father, brother Paul Burger and his aunt Dorothy Hartman.

Steve worked for Microsoft for more than 20 years. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago earning his bachelor's degree in accounting. Steve was an avid trap shooter. He was a member of the Secor Sportsman's Club and the Fox River Valley Sportsman's Club. He was a former drag racer and enjoyed watching it in person or on tv. He loved cars.

Steve loved to cook and grill out. He was known for being a very generous and encouraging man. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was loved by all his friends and family. Steve was a loving father, devoted husband and had a great sense of humor. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Secor Sportman's Club from 1-7 p.m. Please contact family at haley.burger9999@gmail.com to share photos or stories to use at the Celebration. A slideshow with Steve's favorite music and light refreshments are planned. Guests can also bring a covered dish to share.

Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Cremation has been accorded.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
