Eureka - Willis L. Bachman, 81, of Eureka, IL, passed away at 5:45 pm on Tuesday, December 15 , 2015 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka where he was a resident.
He was born October 27, 1934 in Metamora, IL, a son of Harry and Bertha Garber Bachman. He married Phyllis Schrock on October 14, 1955 in Washington, IL. She died July 12, 2010.
Surviving are three children, Daniel (Rhonda) Bachman of Metamora, IL, Karen (Eric) Nafziger of Hopedale, IL, and Phillip (Kimberly) Bachman of Goodfield, IL; one sister, Ethel (Loren) Zehr, of Cape Coral, FL; six grandchildren, many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Charles Bachman and one nephew.
Willis dairy farmed with his father until his father's retirement. He worked 11 years at Ulrich Manufacturing in Roanoke, and almost 48 years at McBride & Shoff /Metamora Industries as a purchasing agent.
He loved devoting much time to his children and grandchildren, and was frequently involved in their activities. Willis was an avid Cubs fan who enjoyed conversing with friends and family about his beloved team.
Willis was a member of Metamora Mennonite Church where he served his Lord Jesus Christ faithfully as a Sunday School Superintendent, elder, and teacher. In recent years he enjoyed attending Rock Creek Bible Church where his son is pastor. A memorial service will be held at Rock Creek Bible Church in Congerville, IL at 11:00 am on Friday, December 18, 2015. Pastor Phil Bachman, Pastor Bob Hart, and Pastor Jon Byler will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Rock Creek Bible Church. A private family burial will precede the service at Hickory Point Cemetery in Metamora. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is handling the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Peoria Rescue Mission where he was a board member for many years.
