After retirement, he moved to his childhood home of Patoka where he pursued his love of hunting and fishing. Lenord and Doris hosted fish fry gatherings for family and friends for many years. He loved having their grandchildren come to stay for extended summer visits, teaching them to fish and enjoy the country lifestyle. He enjoyed woodworking and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. He loved his family above all and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

His family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Apostolic Christian Home of Roanoke for their loving care.

To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance - Ecclesiastes 3:1-4

I remember everything grandpa taught me.  He was such a strong man.  I will miss him dearly.  He gave me the love of all animals.  I know he is in a better place looking down on us.  I pray my grandma doesn't hurt too bad.  I love you grandpa.  We are blessed to have you as long as we did.

Merl and family,
I am so sorry to learn of your dad's passing.  I didn't know your dad worked at the Tech Center in research assembly. That's where my dad worked, too.
